Ukraine to step up state debt 20% next year

According to parameters of the Ukrainian budget for 2004 approved by the parliament, the total volume of Ukrainian domestic and foreign debts will amount to $2.06bn in the year 2004, which is 20 percent higher than in 2003. In particular, it is planned to attract $848m on the domestic market, and $1.212bn on foreign markets. In the reported period, Ukraine is going settle a total of $1.795bn in debts.

The committee on tenders of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry has already began considering applications for participating in a tender on selecting a lead manager of the next issue of Ukrainian bonds to be placed on foreign markets in 2004, the PR department of the ministry reported to RBC today.
